About us
Geoconstruct is a consultancy based in The Hague that focuses on geotechnics.
We have a lot of experience in the design of geotechnical structures.
For example, you can use us for:
- geotechnical engineering (design of retaining structures e.g. building pits, quay structures, foundation design also in earthquake area’s, settlement and stability calculations e.g. for roadembankments or dikes);
- risk assessments (vibration prediction, deformation analyses, damage predictions);
- automating the design process in (geotechnical or structural) engineering.
Through experience we are very strong in underground infrastructure such as tunnels and locks and in structures in dikes (for reinforcement or building structures in dikes).
We are very busy automating the design process with Python, the so-called parametric design. For example, we have a very extensive software module developed in-house with which we can obtain results from Plaxis in a data driven manner (for several phases at the same time). This includes bending moments, shear forces and normal forces. But also anchor forces, the parameters used, the applied safety philosophy, a overview of phases, etc are available for multiple phases within seconds. For example, graphs can be displayed of phi / c reduction phases with the safety features clearly displayed. And the possibilities are more extensive. This saves us a lot of time for our customers!
Risks in construction are central. During the design, possible risks are identified at an early stage, control measures are indicated and a reliable, economical design is therefore realized.
Thanks to a lot of experience, interest in new developments in construction, automation of design processes and creativity, we can often create a design that can save the client lots of money.
Our goal is to design innovative geotechnical solutions, mitigate risks and share knowledge.
Geoconstruct is your partner in geotechnics.

Ruben has 20 years of work experience in the design of geotechnical structures, including construction pits and foundations. Ruben is experienced by clients and colleagues as a geotechnician with a lot of knowledge, someone who can communicate well with geotechnical colleagues as well as with constructors or project leaders, good at setting up calculation models based on the information provided, creative in how to best solve the problem. a lot of knowledge of soil mechanics and foundation techniques, PLAXIS, D-Sheet Piling, D-Foundations, D-Geo Stability and D-Settlement. Ruben studied civil engineering at the Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden and then took a large number of additional courses, as a result of which he reached a TU working and thinking level. From 2011 – 2020, after setting up Geoconstruct, Ruben has been busy with a large number of projects for various contractors for projects in the Netherlands. He is proficient in the English language, both speaking and writing.
Especially in the Nieuwe Sluis Terneuzen project, in which Ruben van Tender was involved in the implementation design, Ruben has proven to communicate excellently in English, as a number of the suppliers for this project came from abroad and English was the working language.
Geoconstruct has access to very extensive automated models for processing data from Plaxis and is continuously working to further develop the automation.

Roel has 10 years of work experience in the design of geotechnical structures, including for maritime infrastructure and foundation techniques. Roel is experienced by clients and colleagues as accurate, highly analytical, and has extensive knowledge of models and of analytical and numerical calculation methods, soil mechanics, PLAXIS, Mathcad, Python, mathematics, dynamics, multitasking and automation of complex calculations. Roel studied civil engineering at the TUDelft and did 2 masters: hydraulic engineering and geotechnical engineering. From 2016 to the present, Roel has mainly been engaged in dynamic earthquake calculations for testing and design of foundations, Site Response Analysis and liquefaction for the earthquake project in Groningen, as well as the technical content management of starters and juniors in the geotechnical field. In 2018 and 2019 the design of the new sea lock in Terneuzen was the main activity. Roel often works together in an English-language international project environment.
The design calculations are performed with Plaxis, among other things. Parametric design is used here, ie Python automates both the input and the output of the Plaxis calculations. This makes the design, calculation and reporting process considerably faster and more efficient.
