Storage area metro Amsterdam

In order to make room for the new metro equipment, the storage areas at the Isolatorweg, Amstel and Gaasperplas locations have been renovated, expanded and redesigned. The stabling areas had to be adapted for the new, longer metros. The stabling sites were expanded with additional stabling tracks, among other things.

Geoconstruct was mainly involved in the design of the extension at Isolatorweg, an extension next to the existing track between Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Amsterdam Central Station and was only allowed to have very limited influence on the location of the existing track. The activities mainly consisted of:

  • Calculation of influence on the adjacent track and drawing up a maintenance plan during construction with warning values and limit values. After a limit value was exceeded, the adjacent track had to be lifted immediately, the relevant equipment was stand by in case it was needed;
  • Calculation of the anchored sheet piling as the edge of the new embankment.
